Entre 2011 et 2019, le Play Research Lab (PRL), porté par la CCI du Nord et dirigé par Julian Alvarez a représenté une incarnation physique d'un laboratoire dédié à l'étude du jeu dans une dynamique prolongeant l'esprit de Ludoscience : sciences ouvertes, faire découvrir les game studies, étudier les jeux sérieux, partager des savoirs, vulgariser...
