"Sheep It Up!" is an arcade game where a sheep has to climb up by hanging himself to flying velcro straps. The concept is simple, but the game rapidly gets quite challenging: how high can you climb without falling down?

AbstractThe advent of mobile phone with a multi-megapixel camera and autouploaders has democratised photography. Taking pictures and acquiring annotations is no longer an expensive task as it used to be. Yet performing these tasks in a systematically way is still very cumbersome for most users. In this paper, we outline two game mechanics that can be exploited for the purpose of large-scale image sensing and content annotation. Our first mechanic allows for better control over when, how and wher

Insert Coin is a funny one-button game where you have to trick an arcade cabinet into giving you credits, by using a coin attached to a string. In this game, you'll have to "buy" as many credits as possible from an arcade cabinet using a single coin. The coin is tied to a string. After inserting the coin, you can pull the string to try to get your coin back, and play for "free". But beware, the arcade cab won't let you steal from it easily! Click repeatedl

Again, I participated in the Ludum Dare 31 competition, where you have to create a game all by yourself in 48h on a given theme. This time, it was "Entire Game on One Screen." The game is called "Attack of the Screen Scrollers". It's a top-down shooter, where you'll have to protect the background image of your single game screen against the deadliest enemy of pixels: scrolling! "Screen Scrollers" will invade the screen border, and force the image to scroll towa

Beware of the Screen Scrollers! They will scroll your "one screen game" background image away, and destroy those precious pixels forever. Also, this image is your only ground, so you'd better protect it if you don't want to be "scrolled away" too!Use the arrow keys (or WASD) to move, and click on the "Screen Scrollers" to shoot them with your laser. You'll earn points for each kill, so aim for the high score! (my personal record is 1292 points) IMPORT

Happy new year everyone! This new year comes with an improved version of my first ever LudumDare competition entry: The One Fork Restaurant. To celebrate the release of the final version of this game, I've decided to write down a full postmortem about it. As the title implies, it's a funny time-management game taking place in a restaurant, where many people come to eat various meals. But the restaurant has only one fork, so customers have to share it! When the customers are w

Who knows Alive published by Lankhor in 1991? Probably very few people. This adventure game for the Amstrad CPC was developed by Arnaud Laplace and myself when we were still in high school. Inspired by films such as “New York 1997” and “Planet of the Apes",we imagined the game's story and then improvised as game designers, writers, coders, computer graphics artists and musicians to bring it to life. The

This book deals with the rich history of videogames and cinema, and more specifically their relations with American movies. The author details with a high level of precision the various links between the movie and videogame industries, such as the numerous movies-games and games-movies adaptions. But the author doesn't remain at a surface level, he pursues his analysis at a deep level: he studies the evolution of games-movies relations according to the different economical eras of the videogames
